This vehicle was built in house by Taylor and the Congleton Service team. It was purchased as a no corrosion low mileage vehicle that needed refurbishing due to time and visual deterioration of paint and interior.
The vehicle was stripped of all panels, panels were replaced or refinished as needed, and then repainted with two stage paint.
The interior was disassembled and everything removed to bare floors. Floors and interior were painted, and then covered in sound proofing on the floor, sides and roof of vehicle as well as the bulkhead.
The interior was then reassembled with closed cell foam, new carpets and new interior trim. this includes seatbase trim, door pillars, B Pillars, center console, kick wells and all parts visual to the eye when inside the vehicle. The headliner was refinished at Congleton Service and the sunroof was rebuilt. An upgraded radio, reverse camera and performance engine ECU, window control ECU were all installed discreetly.
The seats were completely rebuilt and recovered in Connolly leather, with a new seat control ECU and new foam inside the seats, as well as dual panel seat heaters for the lower back as well as seat bottom panel.
The engine was replaced with a Congleton 4.6, as well as a Congleton Icebox radiator, remote oil cooler and all new hardware and rotating ancillaries like AC compressor, water pump, PS pump and alternator. Transmission was replaced with a built dynonyested unit.
Transmission lines were also replaced.
Brakes were replaced in full, performance calipers and genuine pads and discs. All suspension bushings were replaced with genuine parts, swivel balls rebuilt with genuine parts, axles removed cleaned and resealed. I may have replaced one swivel ball housing itself but I can’t recall at the moment. Rims are refurbished to factory Silver Sparkle and new Michelin Defenders have been installed.
During the external reassembly all seals available were replaced as well as a new Congleton upper lift gate. The vehicle presents as new inside and out, and drives like it.
My goal is to build vehicles that are period correct in their visual language but reflect many subtle improvements beneath the skin.
Inside also features our engraved sill plates that say “Range Rover” when you enter the vehicle.
I’ll add more notes as I think of them, thank you for your interest in our work.
All questions and comments welcome. And no we don’t installs LS Engines, a sin the Rover gods do not look highly upon.
Thank you -
Taylor Congleton
